Our Mission

Our mission

Synapse Foundation advances neurosurgical care through lasting partnerships with clinicians, hospitals, and public health leaders around the world. Together, we strengthen clinical education and develop, deploy, and evaluate AI technologies for settings where specialist care is limited.

Our programs span hands-on training and mentorship, Kora’s AI clinical support, BrainSentry’s stroke recognition and triage, and exploration of emerging technologies. Research, including the WAIN trial of Kora, helps guide safe, useful implementation.

Each partnership is built on local leadership, shared learning, and a commitment to improving care.

Our story

Synapse grew out of global health work connected to Mass General Brigham and an early partnership in The Gambia. Working alongside local surgeons, trainees, and health leaders shaped our approach: build relationships that last, learn in both directions, and let local priorities guide the work.

Today, Synapse brings clinicians, educators, researchers, and technology collaborators together around that approach. Our clinical partnerships connect education and practical innovation with the needs of the teams delivering care.
